Money and Time

1. There is a sale at the Smith Furniture Store. Everything is on sale for
1/3 off the regular price. For example, a three hundred dollar item would
cost only two hundred dollars, since one hundred dollars would be
subtracted from the price.
Jason is planning to buy a couch and a coffee table during the sale.
The regular price of the couch is $ 565.29. The regular price of the
coffee table is $ 78.96. How much will Jason pay for the furniture?

2. Danielle went to the store and bought two cans of tuna fish. Each
can cost $ .79. She gave the cashier a five dollar bill. How much
change did Danielle receive?

3. Jamie bought a chocolate cake. She gave 1/8 of the cake to Robin
and took the rest home. What part (fraction) of the cake did Jamie take
home?

4. Five minutes is what fraction of an hour?
