1. A metaphor is a comparison where you say that something is something else in order to describe it better.

John is a rocket when he is in a race.

This metaphor compares John to a rocket to make the point that he is very fast.

This short poem uses a metaphor to make a point. Can you explain the metaphor?

2. Did you notice anything about the syllables in each line? The first line has one syllable, the second has two syllables, and so on.

See if you can write a poem that uses this technique. Use at least one metaphor in the poem.
